Why Choose Merrist Wood College

We offer:

Quality guaranteed

Ofsted Inspectors comments July 2009:

"Good provision for pupils aged 14-16"
"Students aged 14-16 make good progress and achieve well"

Progression

Our 14-16 courses are designed to give young people a head start in life. After completion, if they want to take another course with us, we'll fast-track their application.

Range of courses

We offer a range of courses for 14-16 year olds, at Guildford and Merrist Wood Colleges. Overall, we have more courses than any other College in the county, with progression from Foundation to Degree level.

Tutorial support

All students have one-to-one tutorials where they agree targets to support their overall learning goals, and their goals related to progression to another level to study or into employment. Personal tutors monitor students' progress throughout their course and report on their progression in line with home school needs. Personal tutors can also make referrals as necessary to College services for learning, pastoral and welfare support and make sure that the 14-16 Office is informed. The Office then communicates any support needs or recommendations to the relevant school.

High quality tuition

We’re proud of our teaching staff. Their teaching abilities and diverse backgrounds bring a wealth of experience and skills to our courses.

Resources and facilities

We recognise the importance of high quality teaching and learning resources and continue to invest in our facilities. These include a learning resource centre, construction workshops, hair and beauty salons, multi-media suite, kitchens and restaurant and many more.
