Why Study Here 
Get hands-on practical experience in the land-based sector utilising the specialist facilities at Merrist Wood. This will include animal care, plant management and environmental monitoring methods.

Suitable For 
School pupils in Years 10 and 11 who want a practical taster course as an addition to GCSEs.

Entry Requirements 
You must be currently working at A*-C level in school subjects, and predicted to achieve A*-C grades in your GCSEs.

Content / Overview 

Offered by the Woking Federation 14-19 Partnership, this course comprises a series of topics taught at Merrist Wood, plus elements such functional skills and additional specialist learning covered at your school. You will learn about various elements in the environmental and land-based sector including animal care, sustainability, plant care and the environment.



Delivery Method 
Through a variety of teaching methods and practical investigation.

Assessment 
You will complete a portfolio of evidence over the two years.

Progression 
Level 3 courss in related subjects such as Countryside or Animal Management.





All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position. There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding.
