Why Study Here This exciting new course has been developed in partnership with the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy (PJEA) and in consultation with entrepreneurs and business people, experienced teachers and learners. It will help you to develop your entrepreneurial mindset and will focus you on developing the skills you need to start your own business.
You will spend five days a week in college participating in classroom, lectures, workshops as well as in hands-on enterprise activities.
You will interact with both national and local entrepreneurs, working on a range of business challenges, both within teams and as an individual.

Entry Requirements 4 GCSEs grade D or above, preferably including English language, Maths and Science, or National Award in a relevant subject, or First Diploma at Merit or above. Your offer is also subject to a successful interview.
Content / Overview This course is all about developing functional business skills, to set you up for the future. The following units are covered:
• Creating a vision for your business plan
• The business environment
• Researching your market
• The marketing plan
• Financial modelling and forecasting
• Planning and pitching
• The entrepreneurial mindset
• Leadership and teamwork
• Toolkits for idea generation
• Managing personal finances
• Enterprise in the workplace
Delivery Method The course will include entrepreneur competitions, external visits, research tasks and volunteering opportunities. There will be discussions, debates and work placements and setting up of an enterprise/business. An important part of the course is team work and you will be set tasks to complete with other students. You also need to be able to work independently and take responsibility for your own learning.
Assessment Individual learning targets are set each term and you will receive regular feedback to meet those targets. Assessment is through assignments, projects, presentations and practical assessments which are set regularly throughout the course.
Progression Students who complete the Level 2 qualification can progress to the Level 3 course at the National Enterprise Academy or in other subjects, or set up your own business.
All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position. There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding.
