Step 1
Choose your course
We offer a wide range of courses at all levels - take a look through this prospectus, come to an open evening and meet the tutors or visit our website for more course details, video clips and comments from existing students.
If you’re still not sure, contact us for independent advice on choosing a suitable course.
Step 2
Apply
Fill in an application form online at www.merristwood.ac.uk and send it to us as soon as possible. We may also ask you to provide references, typically from your school, or an employer if you are already working.
Step 3
Interview
We will invite you to an interview and assessment, which normally lasts 2 hours and allows you to discuss your course choices and plans for the future. We’ll also tell you about any materials or equipment you need and the support we can offer. Don’t forget to bring with you any qualification certificates and any other documents or portfolios of your work.
Step 4
Find an employer
You will need to find an employer to support your Apprenticeship. The College can help you to find an employer and apply for the position. We will then carry out an assessment of your workplace checking health and safety and conducting a risk assessment.
Step 5
Enrol
You will be sent a letter inviting you to enrol onto your Apprenticeship.
Step 6
Training and learning begins
Once you have enrolled you will have a health and safety induction in College and training then begins!
