Employability students with their NCS certificates

Merrist Wood Employability students embarked on an NCS (National Citizenship Scheme) programme last term for 3 weeks. The programme included a residential in Wales to experience orienteering and team building, activities at the College to develop new skills including photography, drama, music, art and more, and volunteering at a local charity. The finale to the 3 weeks was a Dragons Den style activity where the students were asked to pitch their ideas on how to spend money that was raised for the charity. The idea behind the scheme is to develop the skills that employers increasingly value: confidence, leadership and independence. All the students enjoyed the experience and we hope to offer the same experience to future students. For more information regarding the NCS scheme go to www.ncsyes.co.uk
