Courses are taught by experienced, highly skilled tutors who attend specific annual industry training programmes. The arboriculture workshops are fully resourced and the pro-active approach of the department ensures that all the chainsaws and related tools and equipment are up-to-date with modern technology and current legislation. All of this ensures Merrist Wood is the place to study this course.
Experianced chainsaw users wishing to update their knowledge base and practical skills, as recomended by the HSE every 3-5 years.
Apply direct – no interview necessary
Experienced chainsaw users over the age of 16.
Through a variety of practical and theory sessions.
No formal assessment, a college certificate of attendance will be issued.

All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position. There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident.
