Fitness training, scrambling through our woodland assault course, learning how to rescue casualties from cars, an overnight combat survival exercise…just some of the things you’ll be doing on our Public Services courses.
If you’re fairly fit, up for a challenge and considering a career in the uniformed services then these are the courses for you. Essential qualities of physical fitness, determination, leadership and teamwork are put to the test. You will also learn explore topics such as citizenship, land navigation, law and the legal system and expedition skills. Regular visits are made to local Police, Fire and Military services to get practical hands-on experience and you’ll also have the opportunity to go on residential trips.

Day to day
Duties would depend on the service you work in and the area of work but typically would include:

Average salary
Solider wages start at around £15,000, rising to £25,000 for graduates and beyond for those in more senior positions. RAF officers can earn between £25,000- £30,000 more as they rise through the ranks. Firefighters can earn between £20-30,000, rising to £36,000 for station managers. Police Officers start at around £20,000 and can reach £36,000 after several years experience.
Moving on
You could undertake degrees in public services, the uniformed services, public and emergency service management. You could also immediately embark on a career in the Armed Services, the Emergency Services or the Prison Service. Many of our students have begun their careers in this way.
