Homestay Accommodation FAQs
Can I invite friends or visitors over?
If at any time you want to invite a friend/member of your family into your Homestay accommodation you must seek the permission of your host first. If you wish to study or contact family members after 11pm at night, please check with your family to ensure that you don’t disturb them.
If I go back home during the holidays or I go away on a school trip will I still have to pay for my Homestay accommodation?
If you are away from your Homestay for a week or more you will have to pay 50% of your weekly accommodation fee, for example if you are half board and have single occupancy this would be £65. This will ensure that your accommodation is held for you whilst you are away and will mean that you will be able to leave you belongings in your room.
What happens if I don’t like my Host?
If you have any concerns/queries regarding your host or Homestay accommodation you should get in contact with the accommodation team; who will make every effort to resolve any issues and if necessary will take steps to find you alternative accommodation.
What do I do if I want to leave my accommodation?
If you wish to leave your family the period of notice required is 2 weeks or the rent equivalent to 2 weeks must be paid. If you wish us to find a second family for you and we believe that it is not necessary for you to move then a further £50 will be required to cover the accommodation placement fee.
We will do our very best to find suitable accommodation based on your requirements. We will make every attempt to meet your needs but sometimes this is not possible. In this case we will make every effort to find you the nearest alternative.
All contracts, verbal or written entered into between the student and the Homestay are at risk of both parties; the College accepts no liability. In the event of a dispute, grievance or complaint the College will act as mediator but will not intervene.
This service is independent from the enrolment contract signed with the college.
The Accommodation Office is open Monday to Friday between 8am and 5.30pm.
