The Government funds and regulates adult Further Education and skills training in England. They pay a proportion of the cost to deliver the course and expect the student, or a sponsor, to pay the remaining portion. This is referred to as the ‘tuition fees’ and is what we display on our guide. If a course or a learner is not eligible for government funding the Full Cost /international fees will be liable. Content / Overview
This Level 2 qualification will provide you with the knowledge and skills required to work in a variety of customer-facing roles within the active leisure industry, including fitness instructing, personal training and leisure operations.
You will develop an understanding of anatomy, physiology and nutrition, and how they relate to exercise and fitness. Plus you will develop an understanding of the roles and career pathways available in the active leisure industry, learn how to plan and instruct safe and effective exercise activity sessions, and develop exceptional customer service skills.
All 16-19 year olds on full-time programmes will be required to retake GCSE English and Maths or to undertake Functional Skills, if they have not already attained the equivalent of a GCSE grade C in these subjects, every year of their course, until they complete their studies.

This Level 2 qualification is designed for those who wish to work within a gym environment, private health clubs, cruise ships or leisure centres.
Application followed by individual interview
Between two and four GCSEs at grades 2 - 3 (grade D - E) or above, including Maths and English, or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 qualification at Merit or above. Plus, some experience of gym-based exercises, including free weights, is highly recommended.
This course requires physical exertion and participation is essential, so a degree of physical fitness is necessary.
Upon successful completion of the Level 2 qualification, you will be able to progress on to our Level 3 Certificate in Fitness, or gain employment in the industry.
All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position.
There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding (identified as 'no fee remission available on this course').
