The Government funds and regulates adult Further Education and skills training in England. They pay a proportion of the cost to deliver the course and expect the student, or a sponsor, to pay the remaining portion. Content / Overview

The programme aims to provide relevant education and training leading to employment within the sports industry. The programme reflects a vocational approach to a diversified industry and aims to give a learning experience combining theoretical course study with practical skills in a competitive environment.

Why Study Here

You will take part in trips and visits from external speakers and will have access to extensive outdoor facilities.

The College has purpose built pitches for training, for football and rugby, as well as a weights room and sports hall. As well as this there are numerous local facilities including Surrey Sports Park (climbing, swimming, squash etc), Guildford Spectrum Centre (ice skating) and Quayside Water Sports (wakeboarding and waterskiing).

You will have access to a variety of 'bolt on' qualifications whilst studying this course, including first aid and level 2 CSLA.


Suitable For

Anyone who is interested in working within the sports and leisure industry in careers such as coaching, sports development, teaching, governing body or club administration, fitness instruction or personal training, leisure centre management or sales and marketing.

Entry Requirements

At least four GCSEs at grade 4 (grade C) or above, including Maths and English, or a Level 2 Diploma at Merit or above. You will also need to pass the reference and interview process. 


Delivery Method

In purpose built classrooms using interactive whiteboards and the latest teaching techniques by enthusiastic staff that are highly qualified and passionate about sport.


Assessment

Written presentations, portfolios, verbal presentations, demonstrations and practicals. There will be clear College submission deadlines which will need to be met. Failure to meet these may result in failure to complete the course.



Further Study

You could go onto a degree level programme or work in coaching, sports development, fitness training or sales and marketing


Additional Information

While it is not necessary to have a high level of physical fitness, students will be expected to undertake physical activity as part of the course. Due to the specific nature of the course there are additional costs for clothing, visits, travel, outdoor activities etc. Fees are payable at enrolment.




All students aged 19 years or over on 1 September in the first year of their course are expected to pay tuition, registration, exam fees and all other course related costs. Some assistance with these costs may be available depending on your circumstances and the latest government funding position.

There are normally no tuition, registration or examination fees to pay if you are aged 16-18 on 1 September in the first year of your course and are a British or European Union resident. This does not apply to HNCs/Ds, Foundation Degrees, Degrees or courses that do not attract government funding (identified as 'no fee remission available on this course').
