The Government funds and regulates adult Further Education and skills training in England. They pay a proportion of the cost to deliver the course and expect the student, or a sponsor, to pay the remaining portion. This is referred to as the ‘tuition fees’ and is what we display on our guide. If a course or a learner is not eligible for government funding the Full Cost /international fees will be liable. Content / Overview
The Landscape Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship will prepare you with the skills and knowledge to successfully work in the landscape industry. The landscape industry is rewarding, offers a diverse range of employment opportunities and includes a range of skills that are transferrable into many other industries.
This Apprenticeship focuses on areas such as soil science and plant requirements for effective establishment, vegetation control before, during and after installation as well as construction and maintenance of hard landscape features. As well as developing core knowledge, you will also develop a number of transferrable skills including: communication, team working, health and safety, decision making and more.

At Merrist Wood we have over forty years experience in providing specialist training in landscape and horticulture. Practical work is carried out in our dedicated landscape workshops, two of which are fully equipped for the modern landscaper. The college grounds are extensive and tuition is provided by skilled and experienced tutors with close industry links.
This Apprenticeship is suitable for those who are interested in pursuing a career outdoors, in the landscape industry.

You must be working in a landscape role and be interested in developing your skills. Alternatively, we have a number of vacancies available every week and are able to help you find an employer.
Intermediate apprentices must have GCSE Maths and English at grade 3 (grade D) or above, or equivalent.
This Apprenticeship is suitable for anyone who enjoys working outside and is already working in the industry and wants to gain a recognised qualification, whilst being employed.
Continuous assessment in the workplace and in College. The end point assessment will have three elements: a synoptic practical assessment containing a range of practical activities, a professional discussion, and online knowledge assessment.
On successful completion you could work in public parks and gardens, green spaces and historic gardens, private gardens and estates or in production nurseries and retail outlets.
