Choosing the right course

When choosing a college course it's important to find one that is right for you.

Choosing a college and a course is a big decision. The better informed you are, the more likely you are to make the right choice for you. This will greatly improve your chance of success at college.

You need to think about where you are now and where you would like to be in the future. Consider your interests, what you enjoy and what you’re good at. Think about how you like to learn too, as being in college for most of the week just might not be for you and an Apprenticeship might be better suited. Ultimately, a lot will depend on the qualifications and experience you already have, so remember to check the entry requirements of the course you’re interested in.

Don’t forget, GCSEs are being reformed and the grading scale will be changing over the next two years to a numerical system. In 2017, your English and maths results will be numerical, so use the table below to see what you are expecting to achieve.
