It is with great regret that Merrist Wood College has today decided that, as a result of the evolving COVID-19 situation, it is no longer possible for us to hold our lambing event, Fleecy Frolics on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 April.
We have been following Government guidelines and working with rolling advice from Public Health England and the NHS, but it is now with much sadness that we have taken the decision to cancel the event.
Merrist Wood College treats the health and wellbeing of visitors, students and staff as our number one priority. Therefore, we feel the protection and prevention of harm to all involved is vital to this decision. We have a duty to safeguard everyone who visits the College, and thus have reached this difficult decision.
We are currently looking at options to put on additional Family Zoo Day events later in the year to enable families to safely visit our animal collection. We will be in touch again to update you on the situation.
If you have already purchased tickets for this event, we will be issuing a full refund over the next week or so. We will also be in touch with exhibitors separately.
We have a full working plan in place to ensure that the wellbeing of the animals is met should there be further changes to working patterns. Our dedicated team of animal keepers will be sharing stories through social media and we aim to have lambing live on Facebook over the Fleecy Frolics weekend.
