Caroline Hough and Sally Pearce at RHS Hampton Court Flower Show
Staff and students recently celebrated another successful year of teaching and learning, with their annual Celebration Week at Merrist Wood College.
The week is designed to recognise and celebrate the fantastic achievements of all students, from Level 1 to Degree Level. Students are invited to collect their completion certificates and celebrate the end of the academic year with classmates, staff and parents.
Each ceremony saw special awards given to the top performing students from each subject, including ‘Top Student’, ‘Most Improved’, ‘Excellent Attendance’, ‘Best Industry Experience’, ‘Best Contribution’ and the ‘Student Union Prize’. There were also specific awards including ‘Best Animal Carer’, ‘Best Garden Design’, ‘Best Plant Identification’ and ‘Top Estate Skills’.
There was also a celebratory barbecue for Degree Level students, and the week ended with an annual Passing Out Parade for Public Services students.
During the week, two of our part-time Level 3 Floristry students gave us even more to celebrate...
Caroline Hough and Sally Pearce took part in the Future Florists competition at RHS Hampton Court Flower Show. Caroline was awarded a silver medal for her ‘festival’ headdress, inspired by 1980s music festivals. Her elaborate design combined elements of flower circlets with ‘Native American’ headdresses, using environmentally friendly materials.
Well done to all our students!
