Merrist Wood College are one of 22 Colleges from across the Country, who have been chosen to become a football Super Hub. The network of Colleges, in partnership with the FA, has been formed to demonstrate the excellence and innovation existing amongst the Further Education sector’s football and futsal offers, as well as providing the opportunity to strive for more.
The Super Hub scheme has three key purposes;
Consultancy group – The network will act as a football development advisory group, helping to shape the delivery of grassroots football.
Grow the game – It will aim to provide more and better inclusive playing opportunities for students and the community, focusing on priority areas including women’s and girls’, disability and futsal.
Develop the workforce – Staff at the Super Hubs will share best practice and hear from experts in the sector to improve their own knowledge and delivery skills.
The benefits of being a Super Hub are numerous, including 3 annual network meetings where there will be opportunities to share best practice and learn from other Super Hub members. There will also be the opportunity to discuss and influence AoC Sport projects, pilot FA products and initiatives and shape the future of Further Education’s football and futsal.
Robbie Porter, Academy Manager at Merrist Wood College said “We’re delighted to announce that Merrist Wood College has been selected as one of AoC Sport’s Grassroots Super Hubs. This is a real achievement for the College and both students and staff will benefit from the excellent opportunities it brings.”
