The Horticulture and Floristry students have been working very hard recently at Merrist Wood College and have been rewarded for all their hard work.
One of our very talented Horticulture apprentices has had the pleasure of being invited to work on gardens at The Chelsea Flower Show, including the Duchess of Cambridge’s garden, which was designed to highlight the benefits of the great outdoors and inspire children, families and communities to get back to nature. Aiden Couzens, a year 1 Horticulture apprentice, worked on the Duchess of Cambridge’s garden in the run up to the show and was actually able to plan and lay out one bed himself with the plants provided.
In addition to this, some of our previous Floristry students had a very successful week at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show too. Elizabeth Newcombe won gold and ‘Young Florist of the Year 2019’ for her Royal Floral Crown, whilst in the older category, Jacki Le Jehan and Pippa Craigen both won silver. Amazing achievements and well done to you all!
