At the end of 2018, SureSet were contacted by Stephen Ensell, Head organiser of the BALI GO Landscape
scheme which aims to provide young people with career advice as well as inspiring and knowledgeable educational presentations by reputable businesses
. They were asked if they would be interested to give a demonstration and presentation to some of our students at Merrist Wood College. Keen to learn more was Tony Begg, Landscaping Tutor at Merrist Wood College. He was interested in a CPD presentation and requested a demonstration for the students to see how resin bound paving is used and installed.
Once the date was set, SureSet staff headed to Merrist Wood College to show the students how to lay resin bound paving and answer any questions. The morning plan consisted of a presentation and a practical. At first, the students were a little hesitant to get involved, but once one student had a go at floating on the DIY table, the rest of the students followed suit! After the demonstration was finished, there was time to deal with any questions regarding the presentation. A lot of the students had questions mainly about the processes they had seen, which was good to hear.
Tony then took the SureSet team on a tour of the College’s amazing facilities, which they all really enjoyed. Georgia Wood from SureSet said “We were led around the Animal Management Centre, where we met a variety of animals for students to look after- birds, snakes, frogs, meerkats and so much more. It was an amazing afternoon and a real treat. We were very grateful that Tony and the team took time out to show us around and make us feel welcome in their College.”
We are hoping that SureSet are able to do more presentations at the College in the future, and inspire possible young potential builders, landscapers and gardeners of the future.
